MACHINE HEAD Drummer Comments On 'Roadrunner Records All-Stars' Album

March 22, 2005

MACHINE HEAD drummer Dave McClain has commented on his contribution to Roadrunner Records' 25th anniversary album, tentatively titled "Roadrunner All-Stars".

As previously reported, four central musicians are being chosen to produce and write all the songs. Those chosen thus far are Joey Jordison (SLIPKNOT),Dino Cazares (ex-FEAR FACTORY, BRUJERIA) and Robert Flynn (MACHINE HEAD). The fourth writer/producer is yet to be named. These four musicians will not only play on the songs they have written but also assemble a unique team of artists to appear on each track. In order to cover as wide a spectrum as possible, no musician will play for more than one writer/producer and each song will feature a diiferent vocalist.

In a posting on MACHINE HEAD's official forum, McClain wrote about his involvement with the project: "Pretty funny story about this. Dino [Cazares] called me about doing a song with him, so he sent me the track (killer song!!) and I flew down to L.A. to record it. Roy Mayorga [ex-SOULFLY drummer] was engineering it as well as playing on a few songs, so I knew it was gonna be a good time hanging out with those guys.

"So, Dino picks me up at the airport and as we're driving to the studio he says..."I hope this isn't gonna be weird or anything but, Logan [Mader, ex-MACHINE HEAD guitarist] is gonna be at the studio, he has one of the studios there and may come in to help out every once in awhile!' I told him it was no big deal because he had already come out to a few of our show's in L.A. and everything was cool between all of us.

"As we're waiting outside the studio for Roy and his bad-ass Joe Dirtmobile, I see Logan coming down the street with his dog. Pretty weird, he seems like he's doing good and happy with being a producer now, no hard feelings or anything so... Whateva!

"Anyway, ate lots of burritos and got to hang with Dino for awhile just like old times when Dino and I we're poor-assed roomates in Hollywood!"
